I'm Eleanor Brittany, and welcome to the September 6 2024 edition of The TrekConvention Podcast's Five Trek Headlines to Watch. The TrekConvention podcast where I highlight five Trek Headlines you may have missed.

So, let's get to it!

Number One:
Let's start with a quiz. Heroes and Icons latest brain teaser is "HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW DR. MCCOY'S FAMOUS 'I'M A DOCTOR NOT A, Catch phrase?" I hate to admit it but I only got a score of 9 out of 12. I guess it's time for a TOS rewatch.

Number Two:
Giant Freakin Robot exposes "Star Trek's Most Misleading Teaser Trailer." And while it's my favorite film of the TNG era and the trailer is great, It is a bit hard to figure out the plot - or characters. But maybe that's why it's a teaser.

Number Three:
Anson Mount wants Star Trek Strange New Worlds to respect canon," according to Red Shirts Always Die. Which should be a relief to Trek fans everywhere. But as a huge fan of Captain Pike I have mixed feelings.

Number Four:
Borg and Borg, what is Borg! If you miss this quintessential trek baddy, ScreenRant notes that "Star Trek Still Has Plenty Of Borg Despite Picard Season 3." Which is sort of a good news bad news situation if you ask me.

And finally, Number Five:

Unfortunately there's some sad news in this week's 5 two Watch. Hollywood staple, Variety, reports that James Darren who played fan favorite Vic Fontaine in Star Trek Deep Space Nine, died this past week at age 88. And while he'll be missed by music and Trek fans alike, his complex and layered characterization of the holographic Vic was a bright spot in the Trek franchise and will never be forgotten.

That's all for this episode of the TrekConvention Podcast's 5 Trek Headlines to Watch.

In the coming weeks you'll find the 5 TrekHeadlines two Watch, which is currently a Bonus on the TrekConvention Podcast will have it's own stand alone Podcast.
